Ballston Spa Youth Lacrosse Spring 2020 Learn to Play Program
Program Goals and Philosophy:
Lacrosse is growing in popularity more and more every year. Our Learn to Play Program is designed to introduce the “fastest game on two feet” to players at the very youngest ages. A major focus will be placed on learning the basic skills of the game including ground balls, passing and catching techniques, and shooting. In addition to learning the skills of the game, a prime focus will be placed on recognizing the importance of physical fitness and of demonstrating good sportsmanship both on and off the field. We will be teaching these skills and techniques and using games and fun drills to learn the skill. Above all else, the ultimate goal is for each player to have as much fun as possible! Our Learn to Play Program is designed to be an exciting learning experience for all athletes in grades K-3. This program is for both boys and girls in grades K-3.
Most practices will be held on Tuesday & Thursday each week from 6:00-7:00 PM on the front fields in front of the Middle School. There will be some weeks where we practice on Wednesday or Friday because of games on the field. We practice rain or shine, but if the weather is overly threatening, parents will be notified of a cancellation by Coach Williamson. At the end of the season we will have a pizza party for this group and hold an event at our Varsity Senior game where players will join the Varsity team on the field for starting lineups & the national anthem.
Practice Schedule: Will be updated in March
Each player will receive a sublimated pinney and shooting shirt with registration. Each player must be registered as a player with U.S. Lacrosse and have their U.S. Lacrosse # when registering for the Spring Season.
Players need a stick for this program. Mouthguards and cleats are recommended but not required. If a player needs a stick we will have them available for use at each practice.
