Ballston Spa Youth Lacrosse Spring 2022 Learn to Play Program
Program Goals and Philosophy:
Lacrosse is growing in popularity more and more every year. Our Learn to Play Program is designed to introduce the “fastest game on two feet” to players at the very youngest ages. A major focus will be placed on learning the basic skills of the game including ground balls, passing and catching techniques, and shooting. In addition to learning the skills of the game, a prime focus will be placed on recognizing the importance of physical fitness and of demonstrating good sportsmanship both on and off the field. We will be teaching these skills and techniques and using games and fun drills to learn the skill. Above all else, the ultimate goal is for each player to have as much fun as possible! Our Learn to Play Program is designed to be an exciting learning experience for all athletes in grades K-2. This program is for both boys and girls in grades K-2.
U.S. Lacrosse Membership Required
Each player must be registered with U.S. Lacrosse as a player to be able to register for our program. The cost to register as a player is $30 yearly membership and $15 for players age 6 and under. Click here to be directed to U.S. Lacrosse Website
Practices will be twice on weekdays during the week after 5:30 for one hour. Days will be updated closer to our start date. We practice rain or shine, but if the weather is overly threatening, parents will be notified of a cancellation. We hope to be able to have a pizza party after our last practice with players and their families. Normally our Learn to Play players would attend a Varsity game and stand with the players for the National Anthem but we are unsure if that is possible this year. At the end of the season we will have a pizza party for this group and hold an event our Varsity players come to practice with our Learn to Play players.
